Description 

Ladania (Cistus) is a native low shrub that'll hi grows mainly in the dry and rocky parts of the Mediterranean, especially in many parts of Greece, mainly in Crete and Cyprus. The leaves and shoots of the plant, during the summer months, secrete a resinous substance known as aladano or ladano. Ladano should not be confused with labdano, an opiate preparation (90% alcohol and 10% opium) used as a sedative.
